Fundraiser Set For Family of Slain Illinois College Student

TROY, Ill. (AP) — A three-day fundraiser is planned for the family of a slain Southern Illinois University student

Police say 19-year-old Taylor Clark of St. Jacob, Illinois, was killed last week while trying to sell his sports car advertised on Craigslist.

His car and body were found May 5 at a Hazelwood, Missouri, truck driver training center where 24-year-old Michael Gordon worked.

Gordon is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Clark’s death. Online court records don’t show whether Gordon has an attorney.

KMOX Radio  reports that Taylor’s friends are staging a fundraiser Friday through Sunday in Troy, Illinois, to help pay for Taylor’s funeral expenses and to benefit his 7-year-old brother.

The event will include a rummage sale, car wash, raffle, barbecue and a bake sale.
