Bloomington’s Miller Park Zoo Welcomes 2 New Harbor Seals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — The lone seal at Bloomington’s Miller Park Zoo now has company.

Zoo officials say two harbor seals arrived on Friday and went on exhibit this week. Two-year-old Kilian and 4-year-old Oscar joined a seal named Kash, who was already a resident of the zoo.

The newcomers had been living at Sea World in Orlando, Florida.

Zoo Director Jay Telzloff says Kilian and Oscar are playful and adjusting well to their new home. Zoo officials say they’re able to tell the three seals apart because each has a distinct coat.

Male harbor seals can weigh up to 375 pounds and grow to 6 feet long. Wild harbor seals live in coastal waters in the North Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
