Galesburg Man Charged For Stealing From His Grandparents

GPDOn Wednesday, A Galesburg Man was arrested for stealing credit cards from his grandparents.

33 year old Adam Williamson used the cards to withdrawal over 10 thousand dollars in cash from an ATM and purchase pre-paid credit cards from Walgreens. The elderly couple reported the credit cards stolen on Monday when they received a letter in the mail about their outstanding balance.

Williamson had been living with his grandparents at the time.

Williamson told police that he used 15 thousand dollars to pay off a drug debt and 5 thousand to purchase heroin for personal use.

The charges he faces include Fraud Electric Transfer, Unauthorized use of another’s credit card, Theft of over 10 thousand dollars, and Financial Exploitation of the Elderly. Police searched the bedroom of Williamson and found one of the credit cards and the statements for both cards.

Police are still investigating the incident, but Williamson was sent to the Knox County Jail on a 100 thousand dollar bond.
