Embankment Crumbles, Closes Chicago-Area’s Yellow Line Train

CHICAGO (AP) — Earth supporting the Chicago Transit Authority’s Yellow Line train tracks has eroded and fallen away, forcing transportation officials to suspend service.

CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase says an embankment under Yellow Line tracks started eroding and made the tracks unstable. The eroding happened during a construction project that the CTA isn’t running. Service was suspended Monday morning after the issue was first reported late Sunday night.

The Yellow Line runs in the northern Chicago suburb of Skokie. The CTA is using shuttle buses to transport passengers. It’s not clear when service will be restored.
