Chicago-Area’s Yellow Line Train To Be Closed For Days

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Transit Authority say its Yellow Line serving suburban Skokie will be closed for several days as repairs are made to the eroded embankment supporting the line’s track.

CTA officials said Monday the embankment collapsed along McCormick Boulevard in Skokie because of a Metropolitan Water Reclamation District construction project. Spokeswoman Tammy Chase says the district is handling repairs and will update the transit agency on a more exact timeline for service restoration.

While service is disrupted, commuters will be transported by bus from Skokie to the Howard Avenue stop in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, where commuters transfer to the Purple and Red Lines.

CTA officials say on average about 2,900 people use the Yellow Line daily.
