No Injuries in Minor Commuter Train Derailment in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — A commuter train has derailed in downtown Chicago, with officials expecting delays until it can be moved from the tracks.

Officials say no one was hurt when a Metra Electric District train heading downtown from University Park derailed around 1 a.m. Wednesday near the 11th Street station. Metra spokesman Tom Miller says two cars jumped the tracks but remained upright, and that the train was moving slowly at the time.

Two of three tracks in that area were blocked by the derailed cars, but one track was cleared by 5:45 a.m. Wednesday. Metra said trains at that time were delayed up to 15 minutes, which was shorter than initial predictions.
