osgood, aliceAlice June Osgood, 79, of Galesburg, ended her devoted and faithful journey on earth and began her journey with the Lord on May 16, 2015 at 4:45 p.m.

Alice was born July 31, 1935 in Galesburg, the daughter of Lawrence Earl and Nellie Mary (Adcock) Vance.  She married Charles Franklin Osgood on October 25, 1959 in Virginia, IL.  Alice and Charles enjoyed almost 51 years together.  He preceded her in death on October 6, 2010.  Alice is survived by two sons, Terry Wayne (Fiance, Jody Boyd) Osgood and Barry Lane Osgood both of Galesburg; a daughter, Deborah Kay Hoban of Galesburg; and three grandchildren, Nickcole Lavon Hoban, Ryan Lee Osgood, and Trent Raymond Osgood.  She is also survived by a sister, Norma J. Lucas of Alexis; and two brothers, David Z. Vance of Rock Island and Kenny E. Vance of Galesburg.  Along with her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Carol Humphrey.

Alice’s life long career was working for the Lord as a Sunday school teacher for 50 plus years, retiring in 2012, and as a homemaker and mother.  She also worked at Steak n Shake from 1970-1975.  Alice was active in bowling leagues for many years.  She was very proficient at this hobby and received many awards.  Her other hobbies included church, her family, teaching, singing in the choir, sewing, making crafts, cooking and baking, and cake decorating.

Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Colonial Baptist Church.  A Celebration of Alice’s life will follow in the church at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Online condolences can be sent at www.watsonthomas.com.
