Quinn, Rodger L.

Rodger Lee Quinn, 77, of Abingdon, died at 1:24 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg.

Rodger was born April 22, 1938 in Abingdon, the son of Jesse Lee and Elsie Elizabeth Burns Quinn. Rodger married Dixie Lee St. George on February 8, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  Rodger is survived by his wife, Dixie of Abingdon; one son, Rick (Cookie) Quinn of Abingdon; two daughters, Kelly (Dave Hasley) Quinn of Abingdon and Kit Perez of Galesburg; two brothers Jack Quinn and Tom Quinn both of Abingdon; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Petie” St. George; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Stella and brothers Jake and Ronald “Fish” Quinn.

When not spending time with his family, you could most likely find Rodger fishing at the Spoon River or catching a ball game on television. One of his favorite past times was to go bank-poling for flat head and channel cat catfish. Rodger was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan. He loved to be outdoors, and teach his grandsons how to fish. He was a proud father and grandfather, who always loved to talk about his families accomplishments or attend their sporting events.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of Rodger’s life will be held at Skeeter’s Place, 101 South Main Street Abingdon, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015. Private family scattering of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
