One Dead in Motorcycle Crash Off Highway 10 Near Galesburg

 

WGIL News Icon 250px cmpThe Knox County Sheriff’s office has confirmed a single fatality in an accident that took place early this morning.

Ages of those involved have yet to be released, however, a Cecil A. Kellar has been pronounced dead as result of the crash.

Authorities responded just west of Knox Road 350 East on Highway 10 at 3:50 a.m. today.

No details into the cause of the crash have been released at this time.

According to a press release, Kellar was the driver of a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle which was traveling east on Highway 10. He was met by Terry Peters, the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Express van.

Authorities say the van was being used to transport employees of the BNSF rail network.

Both Kellar and Peters were transported via the Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service. Kellar was found to be deceased upon arrival at Cottage Hospital. Peters was treated for his injuries at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, and has reportedly been released.

Knox County Sheriff’s, Galesburg Police, The Knoxville Fire Department, and GHAS all assisted at the scene. Illinois State Police handled re-construction on site. An investigation is continuing at this time.
