Last night’s Knox County Board Meeting was full of approvals and information regarding job opportunities and revenue for the area.

Board Member Bob Bondi highlighted discussions from the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development Committee Meeting.

Bondi says The Big River Resources Company that has an Ethanol Plant in Galva will be the first plant to start producing a product called Zein (ZAYNE).

This product can be used in plastic wrapping for food manufacturers or medical coating.
Bondi tells the Board that the plant brings good opportunity to the area, including more jobs.

“To often you don’t know what’s happening in the area, and out in Galva we have a $20 Million dollar plant that so few people know about,” says Bondi. “It’s all cash, no borrowed money, it’s got straight potential. I think there will be 25 to 30 new jobs created out there. Each ethanol plant has about 55 to 75 new jobs at each of their locations.

Bondi says 75 percent of shareholders live within 100 miles of Knox County, which gives potential for them to “reinvest money into the community”.
