Ameren to Invest $1.1 Million Into Improvements for Galesburg

amerenAmeren Illinois announced yesterday that it will spend time this summer making energy infrastructure upgrades around the Galesburg-Area.

A expected $1.1 Million is reportedly being put into upgrades for both residential homes and businesses. The investment will add to the $9.6 Million that’s been invested locally since 2013.

A total of $6 Million will be invested into both Knox and Mercer Counties as a whole.

In Galesburg, equipment used to reduce the number of outages will be installed on Fremont Street, as well as on Irwin Road to North Seminary and to South Farnham.

Equipment upgrades along old Highway 34, east of I-74 are expected as well.

Perhaps the largest project will take place near New Windsor. The company is building 4.5 miles of new power lines near Route 17–a project expected to cost nearly $3.8 Million. Additional upgrades will take place in Abingdon as well.

Most projects are expected to be completed by the end of summer.
