Chicago Bulls Fire Coach Tom Thibodeau, Cite Lack of Trust

chicagobullsCHICAGO (AP) — Fired Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau (THIH’-buh-doh) has thanked the Bulls and the city and says he looks forward to future opportunities.

Hours after he was dismissed by the Bulls, Thibodeau thanked his staff, players and their families “who have honored me and the Bulls by their effort, love, dedication and professionalism.”

Thibodeau also thanked Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who released a scathing statement earlier in saying the Bulls were moving on from the coach who went 255-139 in five seasons.

Thibodeau says: “We are proud of our many accomplishments, fought through adversity, and tried to give our fans the full commitment to excellence they deserve. I love this game and am excited about what’s ahead for me with USA Basketball and the next coaching opportunity in the NBA.”
