Runners To Take Their Marks Sunday at Run Galesburg Run

run galesburg runRunners will be hitting the streets of Galesburg this weekend, as The 4th Annual Run Galesburg Run is set to sprint off this Sunday.

More than 800 runners from 12 states are expected to be at the starting line.

That’s according to Marketing Coordinator Dave Dunn, who says a few notable participants will be in attendance, including Congresswoman Cheri Bustos and her husband Jerry. Mayor John Pritchard will also be on hand to fire the starters gun.

Dunn says there have been some changes to this years festivities. He tells the WGIL Morning News that run will focus on families.

“There will be a number of children’s activities,” says Dunn. “We have a photo booth–that’s always popular, there is no charge for that. Also, face painting–there is no charge, it’s all complimentary with the race, so there are plenty of things for the kids to do. Of course, mom and dad can listen to the band, and there will be some music piped in as well. Our goal is to make it more of a festival atmosphere each year.”

Dunn says prior to the run, there will be a pasta dinner Saturday at 5 p.m. Runners can choose from a mile run, 5K, and half marathon on the day of the run. The run takes off at 7 a.m.
