Semi Cruise In to be Held at Sandburg Mall This Weekend

Residents are getting geared up for the 1st annual Semi Cruise In to take place this Saturday, June 6th at Sandburg Mall.

Starting at 8 a.m., trucks of various makes and models will be on display for residents to see.

The event will run until 9 p.m., with a parade of trucks scheduled to start around 7:30 p.m.

Coordinator Rick Smith says trucks are coming in from near and far, with some drivers traveling from nearly five hours away.

Smith tells WGIL that there will possibly be antique trucks on display at the event as well.

“Every make and model will be on hand,” says Smith. “There is possibly going to be some antiques coming in, and restored antique trucks–possibly the last cabover truck made by Kenworth as well.”

Smith says there will also be “working class show trucks” coming in for the event, many of which competed in the “most prestigious truck shows in the nation”.

According to Smith, a “personality” truck will also be on display that looks identical to Optimus Prime from Transformers.

The event is free and open to the public, with street rods and drag car displays being shown inside The Sandburg Mall.
