Rauner Names Schillerstrom To Top Tollway Board Post

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has appointed a prominent Republican from suburban Chicago to the top spot on the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority board.

The GOP governor announced Friday that Robert Schillerstrom is the Tollway board’s next chairman.

He is a former DuPage County Board chairman who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for governor in 2010.

Schillerstrom will make $36,077 a year leading oversight of the northeastern Illinois network of pay roads used by 1.4 million commuters daily.

Rauner also named Steve Kim as a $46,960-a-year member of the Human Rights Commission.

Kim was the 2014 running mate of Rauner rival Dan Rutherford (ROOTH’-ur-furd). Rutherford was the former state treasurer whose hopes for governor faded after a former employee accused him of sexual harassment.
