Carl Sandburg To Offer “Kids on Campus” This August

Carl Sandburg CollegeAn area college will host summer programming for grade school aged children who wish to continue learning in the coming months.

“Kids on Campus” is scheduled to take place in August at Carl Sandburg College.

A number of courses ranging from math to adventure classes will be available.

Director of Corporate and Leisure College Stacey Rucker says a featured course this summer is entitled “time travel through the decades.” Rucker says the course will allow students to see what life was like through their grandparents eyes.

This is the 13th year “Kids on Campus” has been on campus at Sandburg. Rucker tells the WGIL Evening News, that the turnout for the program is usually pretty good.

“Typically, it’s over 100, and that’s always our goal but the more the merrier,” says Rucker. “It’s a lot of fun and it’s a good experience for youth. It’s exciting too, because they can learn about new things without having to worry about homework at night.”

Rucker says students between grades K through 6th are able to attend the courses. Both morning and afternoon sessions will reportedly be offered. The program is scheduled to take place August 3rd through the 7th.
