Chicago Cops Report Officer-Involved Shooting By New Trails

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police have arrested a man in connection with a police-involved shooting near a newly-opened elevated trail system on the city’s northwest side.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a man was standing not far from the Bloomingdale Trail early Sunday when he allegedly pulled out a weapon and pointed it at officers. Police say an officer fired in response, but no one was injured.

A suspect was taken into custody, but there were no immediate charges.

Police found a gun in the area and were guarding a cordoned-off house early Sunday.

The Bloomingdale Trail, also known as The 606, opened over the weekend. It gets its name from Chicago’s ZIP code prefix and travels along a defunct rail line through several neighborhoods.
