Chicago’s DuSable Museum To Open New Exhibit

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago’s DuSable Museum of African American History will soon open a new exhibit chronicling journeys toward equality and freedom.

The exhibit opens July 11. It includes items from the museum’s existing collection touching on slavery, the Great Migration, the Jim Crow era and the Civil Rights Movement.

It’s called “FREEDOM, RESISTANCE and The Journey Toward Equality.”

There’ll be about 200 artifacts, objects, videos and images.

Some of the artifacts include an upright desk owned by journalist Ida B. Wells, a flyer advertising a 1966 Martin Luther King speech in Chicago and signage from the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party.
