Brodie, Norman DeanMr. Norman Dean Brodie, 85, of Galesburg, Ill. died 10:15 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. 

He was born May 22, 1930 in Paxton, Indiana to Russell and Cora Mae Lemons Brodie.  He married Virginia Jacobs in Chicago.  He later married Karin Peterson May 27, 1967 in Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving is his son Michael (and Patti) Brodie of Murray, Kentucky, two daughters, Pam (and Leo) Pochinskas of Midlothian, Ill. and Carol Goodroe of Knoxville, Tenn., eight grandchildren, Hilary, David, Emily, Melissa, Joseph, Tracey, Christopher and Erica, three step grandchildren, Jackie, Anibal and Matt, and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a step mother, Freida Brodie, and a daughter, Karen Ramos.

Dean was a radio announcer in the Chicago area and also Galesburg’s WAIK.  He then drove a bread truck for Sunbeam Bread Company, Galesburg.  He later worked for Butler Manufacturing Company and retired January of 1993.  He was a Corporal in the U.S Army during the Korea War.  He graduated from Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Ind. where he was on the football and basketball teams.  He attended Hanover College, Hanover, Ind.  Dean loved golfing, gardening and working in the yard.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate.  Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.  Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.  Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
