Family Of Woman Struck and Killed By CTA Bus Sues The Agency

CHICAGO (AP) — The family of a south suburban woman who died after being struck by Chicago Transit Authority bus has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $100,000 in damages from the agency.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the daughter and son of 51-year-old Aimee Coath of Flossmoor filed the lawsuit Monday against the CTA and the 48-year-old driver of the bus. Coath died after being struck by a bus that initially stopped at the red light on Michigan Avenue but then went through it, hitting several vehicles and another pedestrian June 2.

The CTA issued a statement saying it doesn’t comment on pending litigation.

Police say they cited the driver for failure to stop at a red light and failure “to exercise due care.”
