McCutcheon, Lena newspaperLena M. McCutcheon “Nana”, 94, of Galesburg, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born March 6, 1921 in Galesburg, the daughter of Taylor and Mary Duncan. She was married to Charles McCutcheon. He preceded her in death.

Lena is survived by four grandchildren, Twyla McCutcheon of Peoria, Milton Jones of Galesburg, LaRon (and Benita) Jones of Peoria, and Charles Sephus of Florida. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sheryn Kaye Sephus on August 5, 2007; and three brothers, Howard, Darrel, and Harry Duncan.

Lena was a CNA at the former Americana Nursing Home for over 20 years.   She was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church, where she was active in the Lay Organization and Missionary Society.   She was a Past Matron and member of Patron Chapter # 18 OES, appointed officer of the Eureka Grand Chapter OES, and Secretary for 20 years. Lena enjoyed watching WWF Wresting and roller derby. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing, and was an excellent cook, and loved dogs.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at Allen Chapel AME Church. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tyson Parks III officiating.   Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen Chapel AME Church.
