Authorities: 19-Year-Old Escaped Illinois Juvenile Facility

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) — Authorities are looking for a 19-year-old man who they say escaped from a juvenile detention facility west of Chicago.

The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice says Denzell Walker left the medium-security Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles around 10 p.m. Monday. Authorities were still looking for him as of Tuesday night.

Department of Juvenile Justice spokesman Michael Theodore says Walker was taken to the facility June 4 on a parole violation because he had been arrested on burglary charges.

Walker is described as an African-American man with black hair and brown eyes and wearing a blue jumpsuit. Authorities say he’s 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.
