College of DuPage Finance Officials Placed On Leave

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (AP) — Two College of DuPage finance officials have been put on administrative leave in the wake of an internal audit of the school’s investment practices.

Officials say the audit found instances in which the college’s investment policies were violated. The audit also found one investment decision cost the college nearly $2 million.

Treasurer Thomas Glaser and Controller Lynn Sapyta were placed on paid leave Tuesday while an investigation continues. The two couldn’t be reached for comment.

College of DuPage board Chairwoman Katharine Hamilton told the Chicago Tribune top administrators knew about the audit several months ago but didn’t act on it. Hamilton says the report resurfaced last month, after a new board majority took over and President Robert Breuder was placed on administrative leave.

The college has been the target of federal and state investigations into questionable spending.
