Prosecutors Consider More Charges in Alton Beating Death

ALTON, Ill. (AP) — The recent death of a 43-year-old Alton man following a downtown beating has prosecutors considering whether to file more charges.

Johnny Gleason of South Roxana died Saturday, a little over one month after an early-morning attack his family says began when he came to the aid of a woman being beaten by her boyfriend.

Several men reportedly punched and kicked the drummer and diesel mechanic while he was on the ground.

Twenty-four-year-old twins Aaron and Adam Hosford of Wood River Avenue each face two counts of aggravated battery and one count of mob action in the incident.

The (Alton) Telegraph reports that the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office plans to present the case to a grand jury as a result of Gleason’s death.
