WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A man being held on $3 million bond in the Lake County jail will go to trial in September on charges he killed a North Chicago man in 2009.
A Lake County judge set the trial date of Sept. 28 for 31-year-old Antwane Nash in the death of 23-year-old Emmanuel Johnson. Johnson was shot to death June 24, 2009, a few blocks from his house.
The (Waukegan) News-Sun reports that Nash was indicted on murder charges last year after Chicago police found a gun that ballistic tests showed was the weapon used to kill Johnson. Police say the gun was linked to Nash.
Nash has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder.
