Rockford Man, 72, Found Stabbed To Death Outside Store

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a 72-year-old man has been found stabbed to death on Rockford’s north side.

Winnebago County Chief Deputy Coroner William Hintz says the preliminary cause of death for Harland Dascher Jr. of Machesney Park is a stab wound to the chest.

Rockford police say a contractor found a Dascher in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart about 2:15 a.m. Thursday

Sgt. Kurt Whisenand says security tapes are being reviewed to determine if they contain any useful video footage of the crime. He says investigators are trying to determine the motive for the attack.

No arrests have been made.
