Galesburg Couple Await Formal Charges Following Cannabis Bust

galesburgpolicelogoA Galesburg couple is currently awaiting formal charges that stem from a cannabis related arrest this past Friday. 60-year old Thomas Liebetrau and his wife 53-year old Nora Liebetrau were both apprehended at their home by Galesburg Police, as well as other narcotics and enforcement authorities.

Law enforcement responded to the 200 block of Hackberry Road, where they seized the couple who had approximately four pounds of cannabis, and $5,000 cash in their possession.

Warrants were issued, and both were arrested on charges including possession of more than 500 grams of cannabis, and manufacture of between 500 and 2,000 grams. Additional charges are expected, however, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s office has not formally filed them to this point.

Thomas Liebetrau’s bond was set at $100,000 with Nora Liebetrau’s set at $10,000. Both have been released from the Knox County Jail and will appear in Knox County Circuit Court; Nora July 6th and Thomas July 13th. Both appearances are scheduled for 9 a.m.

According to State’s Attorney John Pepmeyer, an investigation is ongoing at this time.
