schultz, bob758Robert Earl “Bob” Schultz, 64, of Galesburg, passed away at 6:46 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at home after losing a brave battle to cancer.

Bob was born in Monmouth on February 20, 1951 the son of Wilbur and Lillian (Dunson) Schultz.  Bob married Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Dunham on August 4, 1984 in Galesburg.  They would have celebrated 31 years of marriage this year. Bob is survived by his wife Liz of Galesburg; one son, Dustin Earl (Rachel) Schultz of Springfield; one brother, David (Sharon) Schultz of Killeen, TX; and one sister, Patti (Mike) Johnson of Delong.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne, Donnie, and Raymond; and one sister, Kathy Murphy.

Bob served in the US Army from 1970 to 1972.  Bob worked for Abingdon Pottery for 20 years.  After the pottery closed, he worked for Jet Air where he also learned how to fly a plane. He retired from Quality Carpet Care. Bob loved to ride motorcycles, enjoyed fishing and coaching youth sports, especially hockey and soccer.

Visitation will be 11 to 12 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral services follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pastor Tom Ek will officiate.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg where military rites will be conducted.  A celebration of life will be at the Thomas Legacy Center following graveside services.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be designated later.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
