Acting Director Named at Illinois Department of Corrections

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner has named an acting director of the Illinois Department of Corrections to replace an appointed director who resigned two months into the job.

Gladyse C. Taylor had been an agency adviser and an acting director in previous years. Corrections spokeswoman Nicole Wilson confirmed on Tuesday that Taylor had been named to the acting director post and cited her role in planning and funding the department’s treatment programs. Earlier this year Rauner appointed her to the Illinois Commission on Criminal Justice and Sentencing Reform.

Taylor takes the job after Donald Stolworthy resigned in March. No reason was given for his departure and agency officials didn’t make him available for interviews. Stolworthy replaced former Illinois corrections director S.A. “Tony” Godinez, who retired.

Taylor will earn a salary of $150,000.
