Community Foundation To Open “Summer Grants” in Late July

Galesburg Community FoundationAn area non-profit assistance foundation will be heading into the summer months looking continue aid to organizations around the area.

The Galesburg Community Foundation is expected to open up what it calls its “Summer Grants” sometime in late July.

That’s according to GCF Executive Director Josh Gibb who tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL, that the grant cycle will essentially be “what most have become familiar with.”

“We’ll do awards awards in the beginning of November, in sort of the same time frame,” says Gibb. “They’ll be on our website, we’ll probably do some training. All the things we have done in the past.”

Gibb says there is no dollar amount limit that organizations can ask for. The only real limitation, is that GCF will not reportedly accept capital requests.

Already this year, the foundation has worked with a significant number of non-profits throughout Knox and Warren Counties.

Most recently, 20 area organizations were awarded up to $10,000 through matching grant funds. Originally, only 10 were expected, however, due to higher than expected interest–GCF allotted more than $200,000 for the grant cycle.

Gibb says the grant was and is “a great way for organizations to connect with their donors and build permanently endowed funds.”
