Downtown Rockford’s Public Sculpture Project Expands

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) _ A public sculpture project in Rockford is expanding.

The Rockford Register Star reports  four additional sculptures will be installed downtown Wednesday. The artwork will be on loan, an arrangement made by the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and art patrons Tom Furst and Dick Behr.

In May, five sculptures by New York artists Boaz Vaadia and Hans Van de Bovenkamp were installed downtown. The new works are by the same artists.

Organizers plan to invite the artists to Rockford to discuss their work. A longer-term goal is the creation of a rotating collection of sculpture for display in Rockford.
