Rockford Man Given 2nd Life Sentence in Killings Last Summer

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A Rockford man has been given a second life sentence in prison on convictions for killing two people in a span of about two days last summer.

A Winnebago County judge ordered the sentence Tuesday for Terence Doddy, who pleaded guilty to killing 37-year-old Todd Hansmeier of Rockford. Hansmeier was found beaten and burned inside Doddy’s office at a now-closed call center on June 30.

The Rockford Register Star reports Doddy chose to not be present for the sentencing hearing. Authorities say Hansmeier had confronted Doddy about using Hansmeier’s ATM card.

Doddy was sentenced this month in Lee County to life in prison for the death of 44-year-old Tonya Bargman of Monticello, who was strangled July 1 at a rest stop along Interstate 39 near Paw Paw.
