Bond Reduced For Man Accused in Knox Liquor Burglary

galesburgpolicelogoA Knox County Judge has reduced bond for a man accused of burglarizing the Knox Liquor Store.

Cody M. Wilkins appeared in court yesterday, where he received a bond reduction equal to $10,000. The amount is down from the original $30,000.

Wilkins was reported breaking into the store on Henderson Street early Sunday morning. Upon arrival, authorities were forced to chase the man, who fled from the scene on a bicycle.

Prior to his arrest, Galesburg Police found $1,000 in stolen merchandise ranging from glass blown pipes, to cigarettes, and alcohol. With the exception of the bottles, items were tagged for sale.

Wilkins reported to police that he was forced into the act in order to pay a drug debt.

Currently, Wilkins is accused of burglary, criminal damage to property between $300 and $10,000 and resisting a peace officer. The man has reportedly posted bail and has been released from the Knox County Jail.

Wilkins will return to court on June 23rd.
