Davis, Mildred P.

Mildred Pauline Davis, 89 of St. Augustine, died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

 She was born April 29, 1926 in Randolph County, Arkansas, the daughter of Golden Wayne Harper and Lora Geneva Bishop Harper.

She married Charles Steck and they divorced.  She then married Martin “Bill” Davis and they have been married over 40 years.  He survives. Mildred is also survived by three sisters, Charlene Yeager of Vermont, Illinois, Ruby Waterman of Lewistown, Montana and Marjorie Sailer of Abingdon. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don Harper.

 She attended Avon High School.  She worked as a mental health technician at the Research Hospital in Galesburg and later at Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria, where she retired from.  She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and reading magazines.

 Graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Online Condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
