Senate Resolution Congratulates Chicago Blackhawks

BlackhawksCHICAGO (AP) — Illinois’ U.S. senators are on opposite sides of the aisle, but they have joined to congratulate the Chicago Blackhawks.

Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin and Republican Sen. Mark Kirk introduced a Senate resolution Wednesday to honor the Stanley Cup winners.

Durbin says the Hawks “realized their mantra ‘One Goal,’ and brought the Stanley Cup home to Chicago.”

Kirk says the team’s season reflects “the players’ hard work and the dedication of the entire Blackhawks organization.”

The resolution mentions players by name and details moments leading to the team’s third Stanley Cup title in six years. It also commends the fans, players and management of the Tampa Bay Lightning for an outstanding series.

In Chicago, there are plans for a parade on Thursday, followed by a rally at Soldier Field.
