Rockford Museum gets Another Load of Dinosaur Bones

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) – The Burpee Museum of Natural History in Rockford has another trove of dinosaur bones to add to its collection.
A team that had worked at an excavation site in Utah unloaded 2,000 pounds of femurs and tail vertebrae on Friday.

The (Rockford) Register Star reports that the bones were excavated in Hanksville, a remote Utah town of about 200 residents.

Most the bones brought back to Rockford came from juvenile sauropods, a group of plant-eating dinosaurs with long necks.

The bones were covered in a half-inch of plaster to protect them from damage.
