Cozad, Robert PhotoRobert “Bob” E. Cozad, 85 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, went to be with the Lord at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg.

He was born April 21, 1930 in Abingdon, the son of Jesse and Vergie Peacock Cozad.  He married Roberta Day and they had three daughters, Christine Cozad of Galesburg and Deborah Rehn of Plano, Texas and Vickie Edwards (deceased).  Bob also has 8 granddaughters and 1 grandson, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

He grew up in the Fourth Ward in Abingdon and attended Abingdon schools.  He served in the Army Air Force.  He moved with his family to Galesburg in 1962.  He worked at the Abingdon Pottery for 27 years and later at Galesburg School District #205 as a custodian.  He was a member of the First Church of God and was a born again Christian.  He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with people.  In his earlier years he enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes, bowling and playing in an occasional baseball game.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Pastor Don Reynolds will officiate.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
