Davis DavidDavid Leo “Hamburger” Davis, 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois died at 5:21 A.M. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Woodridge Supportive Living Residence, Galesburg, Illinois.

Leo was born on January 19, 1933 in Dahinda, Illinois the son of David Burton and Linda Hildur Sundberg Davis.  He attended Dahinda and Williamsfield schools.  He married Arlean Clark on November 10, 1956 in Moundsville, West Virginia.  She preceded him in death on September 4, 2005.

Leo is survived by a son, Vencon E. Davis of Terre Haute, Indiana; a daughter, Kathryn (Gerry) Atwell of Oneida, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren with one more great-grandchild due in November.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, David D. Davis, a grandson, two great grandsons, two sisters, and one brother.

Leo worked at Admiral/Maytag for 41 years, retiring in 1992.  He was a member of the Dahinda United Methodist Church and a former Boy Scout leader.  Leo enjoyed listening to music and loved to get right up and dance to the toe tapping sounds.  He had a great sense of humor and left an impression on all who knew him.  He will be sadly missed by the many lives he touched.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Hurd-Hendricks, Knoxville, Illinois.  Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Hurd-Hendricks, Knoxville, Illinois.  Burial will be in the Westfall Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Dahinda United Methodist Church.
