Judge to Consider Request to Move Former Prosecutor’s Trial

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A judge is set to consider whether the trial for a former Illinois prosecutor charged with killing his first wife should be moved from the county where he worked.

The (Quincy) Herald-Whig reports attorneys for former Adams County prosecutor Curtis Lovelace say his case has received too much publicity to ensure a fair trial.

Judge Bob Hardwick is expected to hear arguments Monday from Lovelace’s defense team and prosecutors.

Lovelace was charged with first-degree murder in August 2014 for the suffocation death of Cory Lovelace eight years earlier.

The former Quincy school board member and University of Illinois football standout has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail in lieu of $5 million bond.

Hardwick could rule on the motion Monday. The trial is scheduled for Sept. 21.
