huddleston765Carol M. Nordstrom Huddleston, 98, of Galesburg, died at 12:11 pm, Friday, June 26, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born on September 8, 1916 in Stronghurst, Illinois the daughter of George Edward and Bertha Theresa (Fitz) Chandler. She married Joe Nordstrom on May 10, 1936 who preceded her in death in 1974, and later married R.C. Huddleston in 1978 who also preceded her in death in 2003. Carol is survived by her three daughters; Rita Cramblit of Huntsville, Alabama, Linda Beary of Gilson, and Nancy (Micheal) West of Monmouth; she is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, loving spouses, five brothers and one sister.

Carol had a very loving and nurturing spirit and it showed through her work. She worked for the Research Hospital in Galesburg as a psychiatric aide for 13 years, retiring in 1974. She also worked at Cottage Hospital, and finally after retirement she became a homemaker.  Carol enjoyed fishing, gardening, and meeting with her “Club Group.” She was a charter member of the Colonial Baptist Church in Galesburg. She also loved to watch the birds in her back yard and raised canaries for many years.

Per Carol’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 5 p.m., at Colonial Baptist Church, 1232 West Freemont Street, Galesburg, Illinois. Pastors  Daryl Grimm and Rick Schriber will be officiating.  A private family interment will be held at the Stronghurst Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to Colonial Baptist Church, Galesburg, Illinois. Watson-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
