EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s chancellor is announcing her resignation six weeks after signing a contract extension.
The Belleville News Democrat reports that Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe’s departure was announced in a Monday email to faculty and staff.
She’s accepted a job as vice president of instruction at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Wisconsin. Her resignation is effective Aug. 14.
Furst-Bowe has led SIUE for three years. The board of trustees in May approved a contract extension through 2017 that set her salary at $302,500 a year.
She says the new contract included a clause allowing either side to terminate it.
She says the Chippewa Valley campuses are close to her Wisconsin hometown.
SIU President Randy Dunn says Furst-Bowe has made “numerous contributions” during her tenure.
