AP Source: Bulls Reach 5-year, $90M Deal with Jimmy Butler

chicagobullsCHICAGO (AP) – A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that All-Star guard Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls have agreed to a five-year contract that could be worth about $90 million.
The person spoke Wednesday on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been finalized. The total value of the contract could wind up being a little higher depending on where the salary cap number is set. But they won’t know until July 9, when NBA contracts can be signed.

Butler also holds an option for the fifth year.

The deal comes on the heels of a breakout season in which Butler made his first All-Star team and was selected the NBA’s Most Improved Player.
