Big Bang Boom Fireworks Show to Explode at Lake Storey Tomorrow

BigBangFireworksThousands are expected to gather at Lake Storey tomorrow afternoon and evening, for a day long Independence Day Celebration.
WGIL and The Laser will host the annual Big Bang Boom Fireworks Show. The show is the area’s largest fireworks display, complete with a synchronized soundtrack, which can be heard on sight or on either station.

A number of additional activities and events will be available along with fireworks. The U.S. Army will have their 60-foot-long AS2 Special Operations Semi-truck available for use as well.

Staff Sergeant Jonathan Blanton tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL, that the truck features a number of simulations.

“This thing is going to be awesome. Huge semi-truck. It’s Self-contained. Think of it as a huge simulator, it has a helicopter simulator, you can fly a parachute, and kind of guide it and have some of your buddies tell you where you’re going and there’s a humvee simulator,” says Blanton. “You’d be a gunner, and you’d have a driver and a little humvee through the streets of Baghdad, Iraq. Tons of little photo-op opportunities for kids. Basically it’s just going to be a time for people to come check out what The Army has.”

A prize wheel, and the Laser Frisbee toss will be available for visitors as well. Activities are available all afternoon. Fireworks start at dusk.
