Ex-Prosecutor’s Request To Move His Own Murder Trial Delayed

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A former Illinois prosecutor’s request to move his own murder trial from the county where he worked will be heard in a nearby county next week.

Attorneys for Quincy lawyer and former Adams County prosecutor Curtis Lovelace say his case has received too much publicity to ensure a fair trial.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that a hearing on the change of venue request scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled for Wednesday in Cass County.

Lovelace was charged with first-degree murder in August 2014 for the suffocation death of his wife, 38-year-old Cory Lovelace, eight years earlier.

The former Quincy school board member and University of Illinois football standout has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail in lieu of $5 million bond. His trial is scheduled for Sept. 21.
