Allen, J. Maxine

Allen Juanita MaxineJ. Maxine Allen, age 98 of rural Farmington, Illinois died at 3:55 P.M. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois. She was born on November 3, 1916 in Canton, Illinois to Andrew E. and Mabel (McMillian) Henry. She married Wilson L. Allen in Galesburg, Illinois on February 27, 1937. They were married for 77 years and were the loving parents of three children: Wilson Gene (Shirley) Allen of Galesburg, Illinois, Roy Edward Allen of rural Farmington, Illinois and Pamela S. Hanlin of Maquon, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Wilson preceded her in death along with her parents, two sisters, Lucille Raskauskas, Margaret Long, and one brother Lewis G. Henry.

Maxine was born and raised in the Canton area on 11th Avenue. Later the family moved to the countryside around Uniontown, Illinois where she and Wilson met, married and raised their family. She worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. In her young married years she enjoyed raising her family and was a member of the Uniontown Baptist Church where she played the piano. Later she went to work for Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois retiring there after 22 years. Maxine loved her flowers, mowing the yard and picnicking. She loved to have fun and was up for anything. She enjoyed swimming and bowling, and traveling with family. She especially loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Maxine loved the Lord all of her life and in her later years she attended the Oaks Community Church in Dahinda, Illinois.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Uniontown Cemetery. Brother Neil Ruhl will officiate. Fellowship will follow the graveside services at the Oaks Community Church, 1868 Congregation Road, Dahinda, Illinois.
