Alderman Jeremy Karlin Announces Campaign for Knox County State’s Attorney

Karlin4statesattorneyA Galesburg Alderman held an event at the Knox County Courthouse last night to officially announce his campaign for Knox County State’s Attorney.

Jeremy Karlin says he wants to bring a “new approach” to the office.

If Karlin wins, he would be required to resign as a city council member and discontinue practicing law at his law firm.

Karlin tells WGIL that he wants to go beyond addressing crime in the courtroom, like the State’s Attorney’s office has done, and work on preventing crime in the community.

“Up to this point, the State’s Attorney’s Office has been mostly focused on what happens in the courtroom, and has not been acting as a community leader in these areas,” says Karlin. “If I win, and if I become the State’s Attorney, I think that will be just as important to do in the courtroom as we do outside in the community.”

Karlin told event participants that he wants to focus on quality of life issues in Knox County and crime prevention.

Karlin says the next step in his campaign is to attend local summer festivals and go door-to-door to spread the word about his new approach for the Knox County State’s Attorney’s office.
