Alleged Predator Faces Six Charges in Sexual Assault Case

Jenkins, Bobby JoA Galesburg man accused of having sex with a 13-year old girl appeared in Knox County Circuit Court for the first time via video conference yesterday.

45-year-old Bobby Jo Jenkins, formerly of Knoxville, was arrested by Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies Tuesday morning, following a two-week investigation and a warrant issued for his arrest.

Judge Thomas Ewing read the charges yesterday. Jenkins faces five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault–each of which is a Class X felony. If convicted, Jenkins could face up to 60 years in prison and a $25,000 fine for each count. The alleged predator also faces a single count of aggravated child pornography–a maximum 30 year sentence.

Jenkins allegedly had sexual intercourse and performed a number of sexual acts with the girl this past May.

Jenkins stated that he plans to seek counsel from a private attorney, waiving his right to a public defender.

Ewing has held bond at $500,000. Jenkins currently remains in Knox County Jail. He is scheduled to re-appear in court tomorrow at 9 a.m.
