McGlothlin, James PhotoJames A. McGlothlin, 50 of Parsons, Kansas and formerly of Abingdon, died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015 at his home in Parsons.

He was born September 28, 1964 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to James Wayne and Diana Jean (Brownswell) McGlothlin.

On October 28, 1989, he and Sheri Edwards were married in Olathe, Kansas. She survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include, one daughter, Amber N. McGlothlin of Murrieta, California; two step-daughters, Heather Carlstead of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and Andrea Carlstead of Erie, Kansas; one grandson, Jespen McLaughlin of Erie, Kansas; his mother, Diana J. Edmonds of Galesburg; four sisters, Teresa Nelson of Altona, Melanie Gray of St. Augustine, Shari Naugle of Abingdon and Patty Smith of Galesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. McGlothlin. 


He grew up and attended schools in Abingdon and later earned an Associate degree at Labette Community College in Parsons.   James was currently employed at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a respiratory therapist. He loved his grandson. James enjoyed classic cars, piddling in the garage, his Harley Street Glide, painting cars, and spending time with his dogs, Max and K.C.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.  Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons also assisted the family in arrangements.
