Vinyl Resurgence Here to Stay in Galesburg

revolutionThe comeback of vinyl records, turntables, 8-tracks, and tapes doesn’t seem to be going anywhere locally. That’s according to Revolution Vinyl Owner Amy Moser, who says since her business opened a little over a month ago, record sales have essentially been non-stop.

Moser says she wanted to “feel things out” the first month, and see what the reaction would be like. She tells WGIL, that things have been great, and that the majority of her clientele has surprisingly been a younger audience.

“It’s been just such a joy to see the difference in kids versus adults,” says Moser. “I would say it’s probably 60 to 70 percent younger kids and I know there’s a lot of older collectors in town, so I wondered what it was going to be like the first month, if it was going to be like your typical vinyl collector that is looking for the classic rock, but it’s kids coming in looking for The Rolling Stones. That’s been the neatest part.”

Moser says thanks to good business, she will be able to bring in a wider selection of records, and turntable accessories, as well as hire two part time employees.

A listening station, a lounge area, and a performance space is also reportedly in the works. Moser adds that “vinyl always had a presence, and now it is being solidified.”
