Two Vacancies Recently Open in Ninth Circuit Court

IL State SealTwo Judges have recently announced their retirement from the Ninth Circuit Court.On Thursday, Chief Circuit Judge James B. Stewart announced his retirement effective September 30th.

According to a press release, Stewart was elected associate judge back in 1986 and moved up to Circuit judge at the start of 1996. That following November he was elected as circuit-wide Circuit Judge and maintained that position until 2012.

Stewart stated that serving the people of the Ninth Judicial Circuit and the state of Illinois has been the greatest privilege of his life.

This follows an announcement by Circuit Judge Steven R. Bordner last week that announced his retirement effective August 20th.

According to a press release, Bordner has been a judge since 1995 and is currently assigned to the Fulton County Courthouse, but has served in each of the six counties.

The Ninth Judicial Circuit encompasses Knox, Warren, Henderson, Fulton, McDonough and Hancock Counties. Notices of the vacancies have been posted in courthouses around all the counties with instructions on where to find applications.
